Cindy Peters, MSc, PhD Candidate

Cindy Peters is  a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Political Science at Clark Atlanta University (CAU), focusing on International Relations, African Politics, Caribbean Studies, and Comparative Politics.  She has an MA in International Affairs from Florida State University.

Her research interests are the complexities of non-independent territories and small island states and currently working on her dissertation. She has presented her research at the National Council for Black Political Scientists, the Caribbean Studies Association, and the Martin Luther King Day Lecture hosted by the Conscious Lyrics Foundation in St. Martin.  

Prior to pursuing her doctoral studies, Ms. Peters served as a Visiting Professor in International Relations in  the Department of Political Science at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). While at FAMU, she also served as an education abroad coordinator and a core faculty member of the Center for Global Security and International Affairs.

Cindy served as an advisor and mentor to students engaged  in international studies and international travel. Her experiences include faculty-led programs in research and service-learning abroad in the following countries: China, The Dominican Republic, Hong-Kong, and Senegal.

She volunteers in various capacities for numerous organizations including: Grain D’or, Meal on Wheels & Home Care, The Conscious Lyrics Foundation, The St. Martin Book Fair, One SXM Association, One SXM Radio program, The Walter Rodney Foundation, The St. Maarten Tallahassee Foundation, Caribbean Progressive Perspectives, Seven Continents Policy Research and Caribbean Dialogue, and formerly The Seven Hillz Production Foundation.

Cindy dedicates her time to various activities such as moderating and participating in panel discussions, facilitating webinars, hosting events, and co-hosting a radio program.  

She is  a member of the St. Martin Book Fair Committee, the Business and Professional Women - Concordia, and the One St. Martin Association. She enjoys moderating panel discussions, hosting events, planning and organizing seminars, teaching,  mentoring young people, and spending time with her family and three dogs in St. Martin.
