Noble A-W Maseru, Ph.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Noble Maseru is Professor, Public Health Practice, University of Pittsburgh Schools of Health Sciences and the Director, Social Justice, Racial Equity and Faculty Engagement. He previously served as Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion and Director, Center for Health Equity at Pitt Public Health. His career spans 40 years in the areas of human services, academia and public health.
Noble has a PhD in Health Policy from Atlanta University and an MPH in Health Policy from Emory University.
Dr. Maseru was the Founding Director of the Morehouse School of Medicines Master of Public Health Program. He played an instrumental role in efforts to develop and implement public health programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) establishing the Consortium of African American Public Health Programs (CAAPHP).
He also served as a Faculty member, School of Social Work, Clark Atlanta University and an Academic and Public Health Policy Scientist, Public Health Sciences Institute at Morehouse College. He also has served as a consultant with USAID Africa Division and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
Dr. Maseru retired as Cincinnati Health Commissioner, May 2016 after 10 years of service. He was the Director and Health Officer for the City of Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion from 1998-2000.
He is a member of the National Association of County and City Health Officials Strategic Direction Committee for Social Justice and Health Equity. Dr. Maseru is a Board member of the Walter Rodney Foundation.
