Adisa Douglas Received the “Women Who Dare” Award

The Walter Rodney Foundation (WRF) is pleased to congratulate Adisa Douglas, Vice-Chair of the WRF on receipt of the Black Women’s Health Imperative’s “Women Who Dare” Award on November 20, 2013. The award was part of the 30th Anniversary Celebrations of the Imperative and the organization’s most prestigious honor.

Adisa Douglas is a globally recognized activist and funder of women-centered reproductive and sexual health programs domestically and internationally. She has had a 40-year career in the field of philanthropy and has received other awards in recognition of increasing resources for Women of Color and mentoring the next generation of reproductive justice and rights leaders. They include the LEAD – Leadership for Equity and Diversity – Award, an honor recognizing outstanding leadership in the support of women and girls; the Barbara Seaman Award for Activism in Women’s Health, National Women’s Health Network; A Thousand and One Champions Award, APICHA (Asian & Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS); and the 2008 Chairman’s Award, Us Helping Us, People Into Living.
